ROYAL CANADIAN NAVY MINESWEEPER HMCS MEDICINE HAT J256 WITH STATS & HISTORY

Description

You are bidding on a  8 x 10 black and white  photograph of HMCS Medicine Hat, J 256, the Bangor Class Minesweeper which served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1941 to 1945.
The Medicine Hat began her life at the venerable Canadian Vickers Shipbuilders, in Montreal on 10 January 1941. She was launched on 25 June 1941 and commissioned into the Royal Canadian Navy on 06 November 1941.
Like her Canadian sister Bangors, she was utilized as an ocean escort, on the Canadian east coast.
She was paid off on 06 November1945 and placed into “strategic reserve”. She was transferred to the Turkish Navy in 1957, where she served as the Biga, until 1963.
Her proud name survives as a Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corp in her name sake city. The Corp there is named for the ship, and not the city.
Photograph one  is undated and shows an overhead overall starboard beam view.
Item two is an 8 x 10 colour statistics sheet showing the ships badge, general characteristics, callsigns, trivia and the ensigns she proudly flew.
Item three is an 8 x 10 colour with a short history of the Medicine Hat, a crew picture and, a complete with a list of her Commanding Officers.
