    Description

    You are bidding on an 8 x 10 black and white  photograph of HMCS Hamilton I 24,  the Town Class destroyer which served in the, Royal Navy, from 1940 to 1941, and the Royal Canadian Navy from 1940 to 1945.
    The Hamilton began her life on 17 August 1918, as the USS Kalk DD 170  at the Fore River Shipbuilding yards at Quincy. She was launched on 21 December 1918, by her sponsor, Mrs. Flora Stanton Kalk, the mother of her namesake and commissioned into the US Navy on March 29, 1919.
    The Kalk served till 1922 then was decommissioned. Reactivated in 1940, for the Neutrality Patrols, she was turned over to the Royal Navy as first HMS Kalk, then HMS Hamilton. Turned over to the RCN, she served as an escort between Halifax and Newfoundland until 1945.
    She was paid off and scrapped.
    Photograph one, is undated and shows an overall waterline starboard beam view.
    Item two is an 8 x 10 colour statistics sheet showing the, ships badge, general characteristics, callsigns ( US and Canadian ), trivia and the ensigns she proudly flew.
    Item three is an 8 x 10 colour with a short history of the Hamilton, complete with a list of her Commanding Officers, and a line drawing.
