Description
You are bidding on a 8 x 10 black and white photograph of HMS / HMCS Trillium K 172, a Flower Class (39-40 program) Corvette which served in the Royal Navy from 1940 to 1941, and the Royal Canadian Navy from 1941 to 1945.Trillium, built for the Royal Navy, was laid down on February 20, 1940, at the Canadian Vickers shipyards at Sorel, Quebec. She was launched on June 26, 1940 and commissioned into the Royal Navy on October 31, 1940.
Like her sister corvettes she was employed on several different convoy routes. She transferred to the RCN in May 1941. She was paid off in 1945, returned to the Royal Navy, and sold into the mercantile service as a whale catcher.
Photograph one, is undated and shows an overall waterline starboard bow view.
Item two is an 8 x 10 colour statistics sheet showing one of her Ship’s badges, general characteristics, callsign, trivia and the ensigns she proudly flew.
Item three is an 8 x 10 colour with a short history of the Trillium, complete with a list of her Commanding Officers, and a crew photograph.
