    Description

    You are bidding on a 8 x 10 black and white  photograph of HMCS Port Arthur, K 233, a Flower Class Revised (40-41 program) Corvette, which served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1942 to 1945.
    The Port Arthur began her life, in her namesake city ,at the Port Arthur Shipbuilding yards on 28 April 1941. She was launched on September 18, 1941, and was commissioned into the Royal Canadian Navy on May 26, 1942.
    Like her sister corvettes she was utilized as an ocean going convoy escort on both sides of the Atlantic. On January 19, 1943, along with the Royal Navy’s, HMS Antelope, she sank the Italian Submarine Trilone, off Algeria.
    She was paid off at war’s end and broken up at Port Colbourne, Ontario, in 1947.
    Photograph one is circa 1944 photo and shows an overall waterline port bow view.
