Description
You are bidding on an 8 x 10 black and white photograph of HMCS Norsyd K 520, the Flower Class Corvette of the ( Increased Endurance 1942-1943) Program, which served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1943 to 1945, and the Israeli Navy from 1950 to 1956.Norsyd, was laid down on January 14, 1943, at the Morton Engineering Shipyards.. She was launched on July 31, 1943, and commissioned into the Royal Canadian Navy on December 22, 1943.
Like her sister corvettes she served on convoy escorts in the Battle of Atlantic. She was paid off in July 1945, and sold into the mercantile service, and then the Israeli Navy as the INS Haganah.
Photograph one, is undated, and shows an overall waterline port beam view.
Item two is an 8 x 10 colour statistics sheet showing the ships unofficial badge, general characteristics, callsign, trivia and the ensigns she proudly flew.
