ROYAL CANADIAN NAVY CORVETTE HMCS ARNPRIOR K494 8 X10 PHOTO WITH STATS SHEET

Description

You are bidding on a 8 x 10 black and white photograph of HMCS Arnprior ( ex HMS Rising Castle ) K 494, the RN Castle Class Corvette, which served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1944 to 1946.
The Arnprior  began her life as HMS Rising Castle  for the Royal Navy, on June 21, 1943 ,at the venerable Hartland & Wolff shipyards in Belfast. She was launched on February 8, 1944 and after transfer was commissioned into the Royal Canadian Navy as HMCS Arnprior on June 8, 1944.
The Arnprior as part of Escort Group C-1 was utilized as an ocean escort in the Battle of the Atlantic for the rest of the war in Europe. She was paid off in June 1946 and sold to the Uruguayan Navy as the ROU Montevideo, who employed her as a Training Ship until 1975.
Photograph one is an undated WW II photo and shows an overall waterline starboard bow view.
Item two is a photo quality 8 x 10 colour statistics sheet showing her ships badge, general characteristics, callsign, trivia and the ensigns she proudly flew.
