Condition: They have been restored with newly set crystal rhinestones in beautiful clear, glittering condition--none missing. The settings appear to be pot metal with wear typical for age (scuffing, scratches, mild bend in one bar on back) visible mostly around the edges and on the back. One also has black residue in crevices on the back and maybe some faintly visible on the back. This black residue is commonly found on these pieces, I don't know why, and it's extremely difficult to remove. However, it's really only noticeable on back (see photos).

Wonderful pair of vintage rhinestone shoe buckles signed Deauville probably dating to the 1920s or 30s. They have been restored with newly set crystal rhinestones in beautiful clear, glittering condition--none missing. The settings appear to be pot metal with wear typical for age (scuffing, scratches, mild bend in one bar on back) visible mostly around the edges and on the back. One also has black residue in crevices on the back and maybe some faintly visible on the back. This black residue is commonly found on these pieces, I don't know why, and it's extremely difficult to remove. However, it's really only noticeable on back (see photos). The weird thing is that I have had many pairs come to me with only one piece having the black residue all over it. Never have been able to figure out why. The buckles measure about 2 1/8" wide by about 1 5/8" high.
